Team Sober MCC was formed in 1988 by a small group of likeminded friends & motorcycle riders from East Leeds & South Leeds. The first meeting was held at the Commercial Sweet St and the name Team Sober was given to us by a group of lads from Brighouse who sometimes called themselves Team Sober. Being mostly small drinkers it was decided to have a newt as our Logo & the words 'Pissed as a Newt' on our T-Shirts and Patches. Pissed as a Newt has now come off the club patch and our rally is the 'Pissed as a Newt Rally'. a patch with member on has now been made, The first rally attended as a club was 'The Fly in the Eye Rally' at Brotherton, just off the A1. This was run by Kirkthorn & District. Membership of Team Sober MCC grew rapidly to over 150 members which always gave the club a good turnout at rally's & a good few Club Turnout Trophies. We now have 40 — 50 members in Leeds , Bradford, doncaster, sedgefield.canada, germany, cambridge, We moved to the Shaftesbury on York Rd as our regular meeting place. Over the years we have resided in many pubs such as the White Horse on York Rd, The Palace, The Crown, The Dock Green but always seem to return to the Shaftersbury. but never again as its gone now, we are at the DOG & GUN YORK RD & the last friday of the month the club meets at the yorkshire amateures, We have had Rally's at The Angel — Alerton Bywater, Mick Britons — Farsley, Watermill — Pately Bridge, Boot & Shoe — A1 and Harefield Hall — Pately Bridge. & the Snooty Fox A64 , 2009 is our 19th Pissed as a Newt Rally. We have also done a 3 Ts Xmas Party Rally with Tea Folk and Team Tankard in the early years. More recently we have had 5 Gemober Party/Rally's with G.E.M.C.C over the last 5 years 2005-2006-2007-2008, & the last one 2009 that went out with a bang, We are a family club with members from all walks of life with lots of different views and opinions on life which everyone is respected for. The main thing to the club is the love of Motorcycles & Trikes, Riding and Partying. This transends everything else, |
