OVERVIEW

Get an early start and ride this ultra long City Escape in the heart of the Ozarks. This almost 350-mile loop will treat you to curves and vistas. Leading east and staying south of the lakes, you’ll make your way to Mountain View, AR, before returning. The area is a famous motorcycling destination. Great roads, friendly folks, and toasty temperatures have riders flocking here.

Summer can be brutally hot and humid, making spring and fall the ideal times to visit. Several motorcycle events are based in this area, like Bikes, Blues & BBQ in nearby Fayetteville, held each September. Learn more about the area at the Welcome Center in Harrison on the ride back.

LUNCH STOP

Mountain View offers a wide selection of food to fuel this journey. Whether you’ll hit up Tommy’s Famous for some pizza or Bushel and a Peck Cafe for freshly prepared fare, keep it light to stay alert for the last 120 miles.

Points of Interest

PUSH MOUNTAIN LOOKOUT TOWER

Push Mountain Rd is one of those roads you’ll consider turning around and riding again. It’s that much fun. Keep an eye out for the lookout tower on your left. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a wonderful view of the Leatherwood Wilderness and beyond.

CITY ROCK BLUFF

Just outside the town of Calico Rock and across the White River is City Rock Bluff. A short gravel access road takes you 200 feet above the water onto this bluff with scenic views. Bonus points for making this a snack stop. There’s also Sugarloaf Mountain Lookout Tower just down the road. Find it at 881 Culp Rd, Calico Rock, AR.

GRINDER’S FERRY SWIMMING HOLE

Bring your speedo and your flip-flops, because you’re going swimming in the Buffalo River. Off Hwy 65 is the access road to Grinder’s Ferry, a popular spot to get wet. The cool water will definitely help in case you visit at the height of summer.
