This motorcycle tour doesn’t just resemble the shape of a figure eight; it truly lives up to its name: DOLOMIETEN ROLLERCOASTER. While there may not be any loops, you’ll encounter everything else: curves going up, curves going down, tight hairpin bends, sweeping curves – it’s a real workout! Make sure your cornering skills are up to par for this adventure.

You’ll start the route description in Glurns, although you can join the rollercoaster ride
at any point along the way. From Glurns, you head toward Prad am Stilfserjoch and then to Trafoi, where the 48 hairpin bends of the Stelvio Pass await you.
At the top of the Stelvio Pass (2,757 m), we recommend continuing to the Alpengasthof Tibet Hütte. From its sunny terrace, you’ll enjoy the best view of the countless bends.

From the Stelvio Pass, the ride continues toward Bormio, where another curve
extravaganza awaits. At the Umbrail Pass/Bormio junction, keep left toward Bormio. After a straight stretch, you’ll encounter two more bends and a gravel parking area. This spot is perfect for a photo stop on your return trip. Climb the small wall there for the best view of the winding road leading to Bormio.
In Bormio, the route continues to Santa Caterina Valfurva, where you’ll head up the Gavia Pass (2,652 m). This road is occasionally very narrow, and the surface isn’t always in top condition, so caution is advised.

On the Gavia Pass, you’ll find Lago Bianco, and a bit further in the direction of Ponte di Legno, you’ll come across Lago Nero – both are popular photo spots.
Don’t be surprised if an ibex suddenly hops across the road; they’ve become quite tame here. From Ponte di Legno, the route continues to Incudine, where you turn right towards Monno and ascend the Mortirolo Pass (Passo della Foppa). After Monno, you’ll enter a stunning alpine region with well-maintained roads. The road is as narrow as the Gavia Pass, and after the summit at 1,852 m,
you’ll descend via many tight bends to Grosio/Tiolo and then back to Bormio.

From Bormio, you’ll return to the Umbrail Pass junction (2,501 m), experiencing the bends from the opposite direction this time. You’ll then ride the Umbrail Pass to Santa Maria in Val Müstair and continue via Müstair back to Glurns.

This motorcycle tour offers not only curves of every shape and size but also breathtaking mountain panoramas that will stay with you for a long time. So, hands on the handlebars and off you go on the DOLOMIETEN ROLLERCOASTER!
